Automation Testing ?

Automation can be defined as a process wherein an activity or a task is performed using a mechanical device or a software. On the same lines, Automation Testing is performing the testing activities with the help of a software tool.

In other words, when various testing activities like execution of the test cases, setting up the testing environment, validations checks and reporting is performed automatically and without manual intervention, we call it Automation Testing or Test Automation.

      ·    When the manual test suite is repeated very often.

      ·    Application under test includes hell lot of test data validations.

      ·    When the manual testing scenarios are very lengthy and consume a lot of time.

      ·    Application under test is stable and no big changes are expected in the near future.

      ·    When the validations are specific to the functional checks, data checks, navigation checks and are not  specific to the look and feel, color etc.

Disadvantages of the Automation Testing. .!!

      ·    Test Automation is COSTLY.

      ·    It lacks human intelligence.

            ·    USABILITY and USER INTERFACE validations cannot be performed.

            ·    No immediate return on investments.
